Cheryl Kim

Violinist Cheryl Kim, received her Bachelor of Music degree as well as an Artist Diploma, under the tutelage of renowned professor and Jascha Heifetz Distinguished Violin Chair, Robert Lipsett at the Colburn Conservatory of Music. Other teachers have included Jeff Thayer and Arnold Steinhardt.

Ms. Kim has embarked upon a multifaceted career, active as a soloist, chamber and orchestral musician, as well as a teacher. Solo and chamber engagements have led her to perform in such notable venues as Carnegie Hall’s Weill Recital Hall and Zankel Hall, Harris Hall, Zipper Hall, Royce Hall, and the Los Angeles County Museum of Art’s Bing Theatre, participating in KUSC’s broadcast of “Sundays Live.” Ms. Kim has served as Concertmaster of the Culver City Chamber Orchestra and also as Associate Concertmaster of the American Youth Symphony. In addition, Ms. Kim has performed with the New West Symphony, Riverside County Philharmonic, and Miami’s New World Symphony. As a studio musician, Ms. Kim has worked on various films and television shows including ABC’s Revenge and Netflix’s Emmy Award winning House of Cards.

During past summers, she attended the Aspen Music Festival and School as a part of the Talented Students in the Arts Initiative Mentor Fellowship and as an American Academy of Conducting at Aspen Orchestra Fellowship recipient, Spoleto Festival U.S.A., Innsbrook Institute Music Academy and Festival as an Emerging Artist, National Repertory Orchestra, and Santa Barbara’s Music Academy of the West.

Ms. Kim is currently on the faculty of the Colburn Community School of Performing Arts and previously, on the faculty of the Luzerne Music Center in upstate New York. Her passion for teaching has also led her to participate in the Los Angeles Philharmonic’s Youth Orchestra Los Angeles Mentor Program, Center Stage Strings Camp, and the Aspen Music Festival and School’sTalented Students in the Arts Initiative, assisting Robert Lipsett.
