Teresa de Jong Pombo
Ms. de Jong Pombo was granted Honors-at-Entrance and graduated summa cum laude from the University of Southern California, earning Bachelor and Master of Music degrees in Piano Performance. Studying under Professor James Bonn, she held several scholarships and was an Assistant Lecturer in the Keyboard Department. Ms. de Jong Pombo was awarded the prestigious Fulbright Grant to study in Vienna as a student of the renowned Professor Hans Graf at the Hochschule für Musik, where she graduated with the Konzertfach Diplom in Piano Performance.
Ms. de Jong Pombo has been on the faculty at the Colburn School of Performing Arts in Los Angeles, California since 1989, where she is also the Director of the Honors Piano Seminar; has been on the faculty at Orange Coast College since 1999, and maintains a private studio. In a return engagement to Colombia she presented a piano pedagogy seminar at the Universidad Javeriana. She is active as an adjudicator for piano competitions, and her students have been prizewinners in local, state and national competitions, including the LA International Liszt Competition; Chopin Foundation Scholarship, LangLang Foundation Scholar; YoungArts, Spotlight Awards, YAG; MTNA and CAPMT State Honors, among others. Ms. de Jong Pombo has coached for the Junior Chamber Music Program since 2006. She is on the faculties at the Montecito International Music Festival, where she has served as Piano Coordinator; and InterHarmony International Music Festival in Italy. She is a member of the Music Teachers National Association, the California Association of Professional Music Teachers, and the Music Teachers Association of California.
