A graduate of The Curtis Institute of Music and a Master’s from University of California Santa Barbara, Valerie Malvinni is Director of the Santa Barbara Suzuki Violin School and Summer Institute. Previously Valerie has taught on the faculty for violin and viola at Northern Arizona University, Flagstaff, and Westmont College, and currently teaches at SBCC. Formerly a member of the Santa Barbara Chamber Orchestra and Symphony, Valerie often performs as substitute with the Los Angeles Philharmonic. As a member of the Rose String Quartet, she performed throughout the East coast including Carnegie Hall and the Library of Congress. Valerie is in high demand as a teacher and has had many of her students win competitions and scholarships to conservatories and music schools. She has also adjudicated for ASTA.
