Montecito Young Artist Festival

Program

1. Two private lessons, masterclasses, technique classes, performing opportunities, chamber music, large ensembles, practice with TAs, concerts, lectures,  and more.
2. Faculty recitals, concerts, and possible chamber music ensembles
3. Chaperoned by RAs and TAs
4. Teaching Assistants (TAs) will help them while the students practice during their assigned practice hours.
5.  Young Artist Festival participants (ages 10-13) may stay at the dorm if a parent/guardian stays with them.

Young Artist Festival

Designed for young musicians aged 11 and under, the Young Artist Festival provides an inspiring summer

experience for budding artists eager to explore and develop their musical talents. Participants will enjoy

a mix of engaging workshops, hands-on ensemble sessions, and tailored instruction, all in a supportive

environment. Perfect for young students looking to deepen their skills while sharing their passion for

music with peers, the festival offers a beautiful balance of learning, creativity, and fun. Join us to make

music, build friendships, and discover the joy of performance!

 

Young Artist Festival – Sample Daily Schedule

9:00 – 9:20 AM – Check-in 

All students: Light stretches and rhythm practice to start the day.

9:30 – 10:30 AM – Orchestra Rehearsal (String Players) / Choir Rehearsal (Piano Players)

String players will work on orchestral pieces, while piano players participate in choir rehearsal.

10:45 – 11:15 AM – Sight Singing & Sight Reading

Focus on building confidence in sight reading and singing skills.

11:15 AM – 12:00 PM – Master Class

Students perform and receive feedback in a supportive, educational setting.

12:00 – 1:00 PM – Lunch Break

1:00 – 2:00 PM – Ensemble Rehearsal or private lesson

Piano players work in piano duos or trios, while string players rehearse chamber pieces.

2:15 – 3:15 PM – Individual Practice Time

Dedicated time for personal practice on assigned repertoire and technical exercises.

3:30 – 4:00 PM – Rhythm Practice

The interactive group class focused on rhythm skills using body percussion and percussion instruments.

4:00 PM End of Day

 

This schedule provides young musicians with a balanced learning, practice, and collaboration day!

Tuitions

Commuting students:

COMMUTER FEE (Includes all activities plus on-campus lunch)

2. Boarding students with guardians(ages 10-13), tuition plus room and board

ON-SITE FEE

  • Session One 6/16 to 6/24 – $2,700
  • Session Two 6/26 to 7/4 – $2,700
  • Session 3 7/6 – 7/14 – $2,700
  • Session 4 7/16 – 7/24 – $2,700
  • Parent / Guardian – $2,000 (subject to availability)
