Born and raised in Munich (Germany), American/ Austrian violinist Anyango Yarbo-Davenport is equally at home as soloist, chamber musician, conductor and concertmaster: Anyango’s 2025/26 season includes the launch of her second award winning recording Invisible Threads with duo partner pianist Jinson Kim, the Latin American premiere of Wynton Marsalis’ violin concerto with the Orquesta Sinfonica EAFIT, headlining the international concert series of the Banco de la Republica de Colombia and Teatro Mayor Julio Mario Santodomingo, and the second international tour of her artist collective, Davenport Chamber Players. The Davenport Chamber Players made its sold out debut 2024 at THE MET in the Live Arts production of Handel: Made in America with Terrance McKnight. She is guest concertmaster of the Orquesta Sinfonica de Bogotá, and since 2017 conductor, soloist and programming curator in residence at the Colour of Music Festival and Virtuosi.
Anyango pursued her Doctoral degree at the Eastman School of Music where she was awarded the coveted Performers’ Certificate and served as teaching assistant to Charles Castleman. She received her early training at the Musik Hochschule Munich, the University “Mozarteum” Salzburg (Austria) with additional studies at the Sibelius Academy Helsinki (Finland). She is currently professor and coordinator of violin and chamber music at the Pontificia Universidad Javeriana Bogota (Colombia), was awarded Eastman’s Frank Award for Excellence in Teaching, the Theodore Presser Foundation Award in Research, the Premio de Investigación/ Creación Banco Santander and is the only two time Schwartz Artist in Residence in history at Emory University.
