Russian violinist Evgeny Zvonnikov joined the music faculty of West Texas A&M University and Harrington String Quartet in Canyon, Texas, in 2017. He previously taught violin at Wichita State University. He served for several years as Associate Concertmaster of the Wichita Symphony Orchestra and as Concertmaster of the Wichita Grand Opera Orchestra. He also appeared as Acting Concertmaster at Symphony of Northwest Arkansas.
Mr. Zvonnikov has extensive experience performing as a soloist and as a chamber musician, enjoying both classical and contemporary repertoire. Frequently invited as a solo and ensemble performer, he has taken part in many concerts in the main concert halls in the US and around the world. He was the second violinist in the Grammy nominated St. Petersburg String Quartet from 2010 to 2014. He is also a founding member of Orfeo Piano Trio together with cellist Leonid Shukaev and pianist Julie Bees. The group holds concerts regularly with performances in the US and Malaysia. As a chamber musician he has collaborated with many famous musicians, including pianists Anton Nel, Misha Dichter, Leon Fleisher, Gilbert Kalish, Peter Donohoe, and Jeffrey Swann.
As an active performer, Mr. Zvonnikov had concert tours in Japan, Spain, Brazil, Malaysia, England, Finland, China, Korea, Italy, Switzerland, Russia, Thailand, and Mexico. He won several international competitions such as: Maria Udina International competition, Fort Hays Concerto Competition, American Protege, Golden Music Award, Bonn Prize Chamber Music Competition.
In 2017, together with Diego Caetano, piano faculty at Sam Houston University, Evgeny formed Duo Lispector. They are actively performing in Mexico, Russia, Brazil, Spain and around the US. Recently, their CD “French Connection”, which they published on prestigious DA VINCI label, received the highest rating in Amadeus Magazine, the most important music magazine in Italy.
Mr. Zvonnikov has taught master classes in UCSI University (Malaysia), University Sains Malaysia (Malaysia), YST Conservatory (Singapore), San Francisco Conservatory (US), Manaus Conservatory (Brazil), Changwon University (Korea), Conservatorio Nacional de Musica (Mexico City), Siam Ratchada School of Music (Thailand), University of Hong Kong (Hong Kong), University of Central Oklahoma (US), and has served as a jury member of chamber music competitions.
As soloist and chamber musician, Mr. Zvonnikov performed concert halls such as: Stern Auditorium (Carnegie Hall), Weill Recital Hall (Carnegie Hall), Schoenberg Hall, Queen’s Hall (UK), YST Conservatory Concert Hall (Singapore), Big Philharmonic Hall (Russia), Concert Hall of Mariinsky Theatre (Russia), Glazunov Hall at Saint-Petersburg Conservatory (Russia).
Mr. Zvonnikov received his Master’s Degree in Music Performance from Saint-Petersburg Conservatory in Russia, and his Master of Music Degree with Chamber Music emphasis at Wichita State University.
