Jeong Eun Joo, soprano, is a Korean singer recognized for her versatile artistry and wide-ranging musical interests, performing repertoire that spans from Baroque to contemporary works. Praised for her flexible lyric coloratura voice and expressive stage presence, she has been described as “a commanding stage performer, communicating with assurance and grace,” and as possessing “a technically solid lyric coloratura voice.”

Her operatic roles include Giulietta in Bellini’s I Capuleti e i Montecchi, Monica in Menotti’s The Medium, and Euridice in Gluck’s Orfeo ed Euridice. As a concert soloist, she has appeared in major choral works including Handel’s Messiah, Haydn’s The Creation and Nelson Mass, Mozart’s Coronation Mass, and Mendelssohn’s Elijah. Her performance career includes recitals, oratorio, and operatic engagements in Korea, Chicago, and Southern California.

Alongside her performing career, Dr. Joo is a dedicated voice teacher and mentor to emerging singers. She currently serves as Adjunct Professor of Voice at Point Loma Nazarene University and San Diego Mesa College, where she teaches applied voice and music courses and works closely with young artists in developing both vocal technique and musical expression.

Dr. Joo holds a Doctor of Musical Arts and Master of Music in Voice Performance and Literature from the Eastman School of Music, and a Bachelor of Music from Seoul National University. Her studies also included graduate work and teaching assistantships at both institutions, as well as language study and vocal coaching in Milan and Florence, Italy. She has participated in masterclasses with distinguished artists including Swedish baritone Håkan Hagegård, American soprano Benita Valente, and composer Lee Hoiby.
