Junshi Yang established himself as a prodigious talent from a young age, securing accolades in various competitions, including the China National Violin Competition, New York Classical Music Awards, Bruch Music Competition, Debussy Competition, and the Silicon Valley International Competition. oloist, chamber musician, and orchestral leader, collaborating with renowned maestros and artists such as Charles Dutoit, Yan Pascal Tortelier, Nikolaj Znaider, David Effron, Thomas Wilkins, Joan Kwuon, Yale Weiss, Cho-Liang Lin, Andres Cardenes, Yuriy Becker, Gary Levinson, Michael Klotz, Franklin Cohen, Christopher Adkins, Florence Sitruk, Tan Dun, Yang Yang, Zhang Yi, and

Wenyu Shen across Europe, North America, and Asia.

Junshi has held numerous prestigious positions and graced the stages of many significant events in the music world. In 2023, Junshi Yang made his successful solo debut at Carnegie Hall, with his concert series in Indianapolis receiving widespread acclaim. Besides, Mr. Yang served as a Fellowship Resident Artist at the Montecito International Music Festival and as Concertmaster and Principal at the Miami International Music Festival. He was also featured as a Special Guest Soloist for the San Jose Arts Council, Special Guest Violinist at the Indiana University Chancellor Installation Ceremony, Guest Violinist at the Beijing International Chamber Music Festival, Quartet First Violinist in a concert series organized by China’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Special Guest Soloist at Shandong University of the Arts, and a faculty member of the US Beacon Artist Association. Additionally, he served as Acting Assistant Concertmaster for the Oriental Symphony Orchestra, was a Founding Member of the Nome Trio, and Co-Founder and Artistic Director of the Capital Philharmonic Orchestra in Beijing. Junshi has participated in numerous notable music festivals and events, including the Heifetz International Music Institute, Miami International Music Festival, Montecito International Music Festival, San Jose International Music Festival, Beijing International Chamber Music Festival, Beijing Contemporary Music Festival, China Orchestra Festival, and Canton International Summer Music Academy.

Junshi has received recognition and praise from esteemed musicians and professors, such as the legendary cellist Lynn Harrell, who described his performance as “a wonderful and faithful rendition of the score… impressive and highly anticipated.” Koichiro Harada, founder of the Tokyo String Quartet and judge at the Wieniawski International Violin Competition and Queen Elisabeth Competition, praised Junshi’s playing as having “rich tone and moving musicality.” The legendary violin pedagogue Donald Weilerstein called him “a highly gifted violinist,” while the renowned violinist Mauricio Fuks described his music as “deeply emotional and passionate… a rare performer with a big heart.” Stanley

Ritchie, a jury member at the Bach International Competition, remarked that working with Mr. Yang was “pleasant and profoundly inspiring for both parties.” In addition, Junshi has also received guidance and

accolades from Menahem Pressler, Elmar Oliveira, Daniel Heifetz, Catherine Cho, Luba Edlina- Dubinsky, Henry Gronnier, Alexander Kerr, Gary Levinson, the Pacifica Quartet, Liu Yuxi, Liu Peiyan, Frank Ge-Fang Yang, Xie Nan, and Li Xi.

Junshi Yang has dedicated himself to violin teaching, continually striving for excellence. He has successfully guided students who were admitted to or passed auditions for prestigious competitions such as the quarterfinals of the Indianapolis International Violin Competition, the semifinals of the Mozart International Violin Competition in Salzburg, and leading institutions like the Manhattan School of Music, Peabody Conservatory, Indiana University Jacobs School of Music, University of California Santa Barbara, Glenn Gould School of the Royal Conservatory of Music in Toronto, Tchaikovsky Conservatory in Moscow, Hochschule für Musik und Tanz Köln, Central Conservatory of Music in Beijing, Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music in Singapore, China Conservatory of Music, and Tianjin Conservatory of Music, among others.

Born in Jinan, China, Junshi Yang began studying the violin at the age of six with Liu Daduo. After completing his Bachelor and Master of Music degrees at the Central Conservatory of Music in Beijing under world-renowned violinist Vera Tsu Weiling, Chair of the Stern International Violin Competition, he pursued his Doctor of Music degree at Indiana University’s Jacobs School of Music with a Full Scholarship and Artistic Excellence Award under the guidance of Professor Mark Kaplan. In 2017, he became an employee member of the Jacobs School of Music, taking on both teaching, organizing and performance responsibilities.
