
Sang Woo Kang is described as a “prodigiously talented” by the Los Angeles Times and praised by the New York Concert Review for his “atmospheric and poetic musical renditions.”
Kang enjoys an active career across 30 countries, from Asia, Scandinavia, Europe, Central and South America. In addition, he directs the Piano Institute and Seminar at the Atlantic Music Festival over the summer. He successfully balances his performing career as a solo, orchestral, and chamber musician with teaching at Providence College, where he is Professor of the Department of Music. He is also on the teaching faculty of Brown University and has held visiting positions at Seoul National University (SNU) and Sungshin University in Korea.
Sang Woo recorded the Brahms Clarinet Sonatas on the EMI Korea label in 2007, and his performances have been featured on numerous programs in the United States and abroad, including WXXI, WGBH, and MPBN classical music stations. His solo albums include Mozart piano works, released on the NAXOS label in December 2014, and Scarlatti Sonatas (NAXOS, 2024), which has received high international acclaim from Fanfare, American Record Guide, Clavier Companion, and other leading publications.
He is a graduate of Juilliard School and the Eastman School of Music, where he received the Doctor of Musical Arts degree.
