
A native of South Korea, pianist Seonmi Lee has built an impressive international career as both a chamber musician and solo pianist. Since winning major international competitions at the young age of ten, Ms. Lee has gained recognition as a celebrated soloist and is highly sought after as a collaborative pianist. She has performed in prestigious concert venues around the world, including the Seoul Arts Center and Sejong Center for the Performing Arts in Korea, the Mozart Haus in Vienna, and notable locations in the United States such as the Walt Disney Concert Hall and Zipper Hall in Los Angeles.
Ms. Lee earned her bachelor’s degree from The Korea National University of Arts, studying under the esteemed guidance of Dae-jin Kim. She then went on to complete her master’s degree in piano performance at the Jacobs School of Music at Indiana University, where she studied with the renowned pianist André Watts. Her deep passion for chamber music led her to pursue a Doctor of Musical Arts degree in collaborative piano at the University of Southern California (USC), where she studied with Alan Smith.
Throughout her career, Ms. Lee has served as an official pianist at prominent competitions such as The Primrose International Viola Competition and the Seoul International Music Competition. Additionally, she has been a dedicated collaborative pianist at the Colburn School and USC Thornton School of Music in Los Angeles, where she worked as a studio pianist for violinist Robert Lipsett and cellist Ralph Kirshbaum. Currently, she is a member of the Collaborative Piano faculty at the Heifetz International Music Institute in Virginia, and she also
serves on the collaborative piano faculties at The Korea National University of Arts and Hanyang University in Seoul, South Korea.
