Pianist and coach Sky Lee is a versatile and sought-after collaborator with extensive experiences across opera, choral, orchestral, and instrumental repertoire. Her notable engagements include Long Beach Opera, The Opera Buffs, Indianapolis Opera, Aspen Music Festival and School, Pittsburgh Festival Opera, NATS, Indiana University String Academy, among many others. Her performances have spanned opera companies, festivals, and academic institutions throughout the United States, Germany, Italy, Austria, Prague, and her home country South Korea, including a debut at Carnegie Hall’s Weill Recital Hall.
Ms. Lee has partnered with distinguished pedagogues and artists including sopranos Renée Fleming, Sumi Jo, Angela Brown, Elizabeth Hynes, Lynn Helding, Carol Vaness, Patricia Wise, Alice Hopper, countertenor John Holiday, tenors Thomas Allen, Carlos Montane, Brian Horne, baritones Rod Gilfry, Stephen King, Kevin Short, violinists Mimi Zweig, Brenda Brenner, conductors Pierre Vallet, Jo-Michael Scheibe, Tram Sparks, Larry Livingston, and hornist Kristy Morrell. Her accolades include winning the NSAL Instrumental Music Competition and American Protégé Instrumental Competition of Romantic Music.
She holds degrees in Solo Piano Performance from Indiana University Jacobs School of Music, where she studied with Karen Shaw, and Keyboard Collaborative Arts from USC Thornton School of Music under the tutelage of Alan L. Smith, where she received recognition through awards and teaching assistantships.
Currently based in Los Angeles with her family, Ms. Lee serves as adjunct faculty at Pepperdine University for the 2025-26 season, vocal coach and staff pianist at Santa Monica College, and staff pianist at USC and UCLA. She is known for her excellence as a musical partner and her commitment to inspiring artists through collaborative performance and teaching.
