South Korean violinist Dr. Sungho Jung made his debut with Seoul Grand Symphony
Orchestra at age 13. After leaving Korea, he continued his studies in Europe and the United
States. Dr. Jung now resides in Michigan. An avid performer of chamber music, he
frequently appeared in “If Music be the Food…Lansing,” a food fundraising concert series,
and with Camerata Michigan as part of the “Cello Plus Series” directed by Suren Bagratuni.
He was a member of the recording orchestra for Dr. Nancy Ambrose King’s album “New
Works for Oboe and Orchestra,” which also featured violinists Matt Albert and Andrew
Jennings.
Dr. Jung also attended masterclass held by Miriam Fried, Soovin Kim and Lawrence Dutton
a member of the Emerson String Quartet. He also has studied chamber music with Joseph
Genualdi, Sheila Browne, Eric Larsen, Robert Merfeld and Caroline Coade.
A dedicated teacher and performer, Dr. Jung is an Instructor of Violin at Florida Sothern
College and director of the Musicista Chamber Music Series. In additionally, he has been
performed at the Symphony Hall in Boston and Orchestra Hall in Detroit, as well as sharing
the stage with world renowned violinist Itzhak Perlman and conductors JoAnn Falletta and
Ken-David Masur.
Dr. Jung holds his D.M.A in Violin Performance from Michigan State University (Dmitri
Berlinsky and Yvonne Lam), M.M. in Violin Performance from Boston University (Bayla
Keyes), and a B.M. in Violin Performance from the University of North Carolina School of
the Arts (Kevin Lawrence). He also holds a performance certificate at the Prague
Conservatory (Jiří Fišer) in the Czech Rep
