Kyuyoung Lee

Tenor Kyuyoung Lee, a native of South Korea, has performed numerous programs in his home country, most notably with the Korea Prime Philharmonic Orchestra. He was a winner of the Metropolitan Opera Competition district of Colorado in 2015 and the Saltwork Opera Competition in 2017.Dr. Lee has sung leading roles with the Boston University Opera Institute including

Alfredo in La Traviata, Mayor in Albert Herring, Sheldon in Later the Same Evening and Doofey in Sweets by Kate. He has sung with the Aspen Opera Theater Center covering Rodolfo in La Boheme and Luigi in A Wedding. While attending USC, he performed Tamino in The Magic Flute and Chaplain of the Monastery in Dialogues of the Carmelites with the USC Thorton Opera. Other operatic roles include Don Ottavio in Don Giovanni at Manhattan School of Music, Lucarnio in Ariodante with Chautauqua Opera, and Hoffmann in The Tales of Hoffmann at Music Academy of the West.

Dr. Lee earned a Bachelor of Music degree in Vocal Arts from Seoul National University, a Master of Music degree in Vocal Arts from the University of Southern California studying under Professor Elizabeth Hynes, a Professional Studies Certificate in Vocal Arts from the Manhattan School of Music under Professor Marlena Kleinman Malas, and a Doctorate of Musical Arts degree from Boston University where he studied with Dr. Lynn Eustis.
