Vanessa Fadial, DMA

Vanessa Fadial, DMA, is a breathtaking pianist whose warmth and endearing personality shine through all of her solo and chamber music performances.

She has performed throughout the United States and Canada. She is a member of the Sapphire Duo, with violinist, Cheryl Norman Brick. She has recently played in recital at Zipper and Thayer halls at the Colburn School, Pasadena City College’s Westerbeck Recital Hall, at the Old Mill Concert Series in San Marino, California, the Wilshire Temple and the Four Seasons Chamber Music Series in Berkeley.

Twentieth-century and contemporary music is a key component of Dr. Fadial’s repertoire. On her past performances, you would have heard works by Brad Lubman, Dan Cooper, and Richard Danielpour, Berio, Ligeti, and Cage.

While living in New York City, she was on the roster of the Golden Key Salon Series at Klavierhaus; was a member of the New York–based chamber group the Circadia Ensemble, a group dedicated to performances of the music of living composers; and performed with her trio on the Trinity Concerts at One series at Trinity Church, Wall Street. Lucid Culture, a popular online magazine covering arts in New York City, praised Dr. Fadial for her “affectingly shimmery cantabile” in that Trinity Church concert.

As a teacher, Dr. Fadial has developed young talent into conservatory- ready pianists and competition winners. Her students have gone on to Oberlin Conservatory, New England Conservatory, Harvard University, and University of California, Berkeley, and have won the national division of the Music Teachers National Association Junior Performance Competition, and the Chopin Foundation Scholarship Award.

In addition to a DMA from Stony Brook University, Dr. Fadial holds degrees from the Cleveland Institute of Music and Oberlin Conservatory. She is currently on the Piano and Chamber Music Faculty at the Colburn School in Los Angeles.
